Much-awaited historical drama Chhaava starring Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna is finally out today, February 14. The film has been directed and scripted by Laxman Utekar and is inspired by the life of Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, who was famous for his bravery and sacrifice. The film has generated a lot of excitement among the people, and let's know more about what the film has in store.

Storyline

The movie starts with a war scene, to the music of dramatic notes, where Sambhaji Maharaj and his Maratha army attack a Mughal fort. The war scenes are rough and realistic and depict the mindset of the warrior, who is not afraid of anything. We see the battles of Sambhaji, both on and off the field, in the entire movie, more particularly with his father, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The film also touches upon briefly how eager he was to protect his kingdom from invasions and take care of his people.

Strengths

  • Historical Detailing: The era is depicted in the film properly with well-structured sets, attires, and war strategies.
  • Action Scenes: Action scenes are enjoyable and can capture the passion of the wars of the Marathas.
  • Good Music and Background Score: The background score is excellent and contributes to the grandeur of the film and takes us to the setting.

Negative Points

  • Pacing Issues: The narrative is slow in the middle, so parts of the movie are dragged.
  • Lack of Character Depth: Sambhaji Maharaj's character is well defined, but other major characters like Rashmika Mandanna's character can be better developed.
  • Graphic Violence: The graphic fight scenes might not be for everyone.
